Renaissance

Waar liggen de grenzen van de fotografie? Een foto kan er uit zien als een tekening of een schilderij, of als een afbeelding daarvan. Toch blijft de foto een redelijk getrouwe weergave van wat ik zie. Een detail geeft een subtiele indicatie van de omgeving. Ga eens een paar meter van uw computerscherm staan. De foto werkt dan anders. Op groot formaat wordt het orkestraal en onthullend. Het kan soms verwarren, de realiteit van een foto.

Where lie the limits of photography? A photograph can look like a drawing or a painting, or as an image of these. Still, a photograph remains a pretty close image of what I saw in real life. A subtle detail gives a faint indication of the environment. Stand up now and take a couple of metres distance from your screen. The photograph will work different now. And in large format, it becomes orchestral and revealing. Sometimes it can be confusing, the reality of a photograph.
